We homeschool year-round and avoid taking large breaks in general.  We do, however, enjoy taking a few days off, letting our foot off the gas for a week or so during Christmas.

Typically we focus on educational documentaries or YouTube channels (hop to the bottom of this post for a free resource), online unit studies,  and fun activities.  Whether you’re looking for activities to add to your homeschool or to keep busy, I’ve gathered up several Christmas crafts and activities for you to enjoy this Christmas!

  • Christmas stained glass art– Thinking Kids Press has a fun way to incorporate the Nativity star- no real glass involved! 😉
  • Make a kid-friendly Christmas village– If you do Santa (we don’t) then Growing curious minds has a cute tutorial on making a little diorama of sorts.  You could always still make one without or a nativity!
  • Popsicle stick snowflake ornament– My Life of Travels and Adventures share a cute and easy-to-make ornament that can also be used for general decoration if you don’t use trees.
  • Orange peel garlands– Kanelstrand offers a tutorial on how to dry oranges and peels to make garlands (or ornaments).   These are gorgeous!!

  • Spending Christmas at the Nativity– We’re using this study from In All You Do this month and loving it.
  • Throwing a Christmas party for Jesus– Grace Grow Edify shares their advent traditions including having a Birthday party for Jesus.  We’ve done the same when my kids were little, and it was such an effective way to make Christmas clear in little eyes!

  1. Thank you, Jill, for including my post in your Christmas Activities roundup. We actually don’t do Santa either but the kids just wanted to include him for fun 🙂 As you mentioned, you could use a nativity set up or a winter scene mini village.
