Feeling good with Fibromyalgia, it’s possible!

Struggling with feeling good with Fibromyalgia?

Or any other chronic disorder for that matter?  Again, I’m no doctor or certified anything, but as a woman with Fibromyalgia, I’m here to encourage you from a place of personal experience.  Before having kids, I also struggled with endometriosis.  You see, there’s been something between me and exercising most of my adult life… Yet, I’m excited to encourage you in knowing that feeling good with Fibromyalgia is completely possible!

If you’ve been around here for a bit then you’ve heard about my struggle.  What started with general aches and pains turned into full-fledged zombiehood.  The internist who finally diagnosed me recommended exercise for treatment Needless to say, I left the office somewhat furious and defeated.  It seemed impossible.  Soon I found out it was entirely possible.

7 easy ways to make time for fitness as a homeschool mom

Think you can’t make time for fitness?

It’s hard to make time for fitness as a mom.  Add homeschool and it can seem impossible.  I struggled with this a lot when I first began homeschooling and even more so when I began working from home.  I needed to stay in shape, but working was also crucial when the dentist informed me that we’d soon be looking at braces.  Are you juggling school for multiple kids or drowning with a to-do list that won’t quit?  All the while watching the scale creep up and your energy plummeting?  I’ve been there.

There are 7 things I do to make time for fitness in my daily life, although I give myself a bit of grace if I don’t make it!

The importance of developing SMART fitness goals

Do you set “Smart” fitness goals?

Does this sound like you?  “I’m going to lose weight this year… I need to get in shape.”  How does it work out?  That’s been me about 90% of the times I’ve tried losing weight.  Setting SMART fitness goals has been the one thing that has brought me success.

I hate anything that seems like it may be mentally taxing without any joy in return.  The ADHD in me hits a mental fatigue wall fast – as in just thinking about it.  Here’s the thing, every time I make a legit plan and keep track, I find so much more success.  It’s not so bad as you may think, and as you see yourself hitting goals, it becomes so rewarding, that you get that hit of joy with every day you track.

Meal planning: save time, be healthy, stay happy

Have you tried meal planning?

Just mentioning meal planning makes some mamas groan.  It can be a dirty word to the non-planner.  I’ve been there.  Being a mom with ADHD is brutal some days.  Meal times are a big part of that!  For years I heard, “Meal planning will save you…blah, blah, blah…”  No thanks.

I should have known better since all that I’ve overcome with my ADHD has been reliant upon planning and execution.  Maybe it was just my rebellion against yet another thing to plan.
