Boost Confidence with a Simple Homeschool Camping Trip

Learning with a homeschool camping trip

Do you use travel opportunities towards your homeschooling benefit?   Homeschool camping is something we got to investigate first-hand last May, and it was great!  We didn’t have plans to make it educational, but our camping trip turned into an educational experience quickly and fairly effortlessly!  This low-pressure environment is perfect for confidence building and reinforcing learned information.

Make learning fun with an easy ancient Greece unit study

This month we shook things up with an  ancient Greece unit study

We’ve used unit studies before from Techie Homeschool Mom (Beth), but when I decided I wanted to review her Ancient Greece unit study, we put it front and center.  It was the first time I was bold enough to put most of our work off to the side and focus, almost exclusively, on a unit study.

It was so freeing!  I have to say I’m pretty hooked and will be doing this more often.  When we approach burnout points, I’ll “take a break” by using primarily a unit study.

And guess what…  Beth has generously offered a free copy of her Ancient Greek Unit Study on Teachable for my review and for one of my readers to win!   Entry in the raffle will also subscribe you to both of our email lists, so if you already subscribe, make sure to use the same email address to avoid getting duplicate emails!  Beth will select and announce the winner soon after the contest ends (Monday night). Read on for videos and the entry form.

33 cute Valentine’s books kids will adore!

Making reading fun using cute Valentine’s books kids will like!

When using a theme like Valentine’s books kids are more likely to be engaged in what they’re reading!  My boys love reading something that connects with them where they are in real life, so seasonal books are always a hit.  I rounded up several from Amazon that you may want to check out, and some from Epic! as well.

We always give small gifts to each other, and I personally prefer to gift books or something practical over candy or toys.  If you have the same tradition, some of these may be great ideas.  Otherwise, if you’re just looking for something to go with school or unit studies, many of these may be available at your local library, so make a list and be sure to double check.  Many libraries these days even have books available for free, digitally, on Kindle!

Back to School for Homeschoolers

Wondering how, or even if, people celebrate back to school when they are year round homeschoolers?

Do homeschoolers have “back to school”?

I would say yes, most of us do.  It may not be exactly the same, but I would argue that we experience regular rhythms in our routine like anyone else.  My homeschool “back to school” is started in June because we homeschool year round.

I make a small commission, and your price is the same. Thank you for your support of this website, it means the world to me! Continue reading “Back to School for Homeschoolers”
