33 cute Valentine’s books kids will adore!

Making reading fun using cute Valentine’s books kids will like!

When using a theme like Valentine’s books kids are more likely to be engaged in what they’re reading!  My boys love reading something that connects with them where they are in real life, so seasonal books are always a hit.  I rounded up several from Amazon that you may want to check out, and some from Epic! as well.

We always give small gifts to each other, and I personally prefer to gift books or something practical over candy or toys.  If you have the same tradition, some of these may be great ideas.  Otherwise, if you’re just looking for something to go with school or unit studies, many of these may be available at your local library, so make a list and be sure to double check.  Many libraries these days even have books available for free, digitally, on Kindle!

Christmas: Why we focus more on valuable experiences

Gifting experiences over “stuff” for Christmas

Luckily I’m starting to see a trend more and more of focusing on experiences when gift giving rather than just wrapping as many boxes as possible.  A couple weeks ago I wrote about how hard it was, working in retail, to watch people drive themselves into debt to give gifts I totally still feel that way but I’m encouraged when I see people making different choices. Seeing thoughtfulness over how we spend, pushing back against the consumption of resources, is key.  This post is more about what we’re choosing to buy.

This post isn’t especially special needs related, but still something I think is important!  Changing our perspective on Christmas and gift giving can be such a huge gift to our children.  If you haven’t jumped onto this recent way of thinking, it may be worth investigating!

Why celebrating Santa Claus may be a huge mistake

Celebrating Christmas with Santa Claus? You may be making a mistake without realizing it. Here are the 3 main reasons why we don't, and what we do instead. #christmas #santaclaus #momlife #christianmom

Do you do the Santa Claus thing?

I’m about to get a ton of unsubscribes and hate mail for this one, I’m almost sure of it… but I am so strongly against Santa Claus.  My mom sheds a tear or two at this and thinks it’s excessive.  I know you too are probably thinking, “WTHeck?Who hates Santa Claus?!”  Stick with me on this because I’ve got 3 good reasons why we don’t celebrate our Christmas with Santa Claus.  I’m going to make my case here, share our alternatives, and how we prevent any problems that arise as a result.

(Please also know that while I think this is best everyone, I am specifically talking to my family in Christ)
