Listen to audiobooks – 15 days of practical self care

Yes, listen to audiobooks…

if you don’t already, audiobooks are a great way to bask in some wisdom or inspiration.  You can learn about something that’s just for you. You don’t have to be peacefully seated, uninterrupted, or struggling to stay awake as you read in bed!

Perhaps you just need an escape from reality a bit?  A good mystery or sweet love story (any other Notebook fans with me?) can be just what you need to take your mind off of endless anxiety loops.

Adding Pedicures to Your Self-Care List

Make manicures or pedicures part of your self-care routine!

Getting out for professional Manicures or Pedicures is ahhhhmazing, but time and money…  I know that’s not always an option; it’s certainly not for me!

Consider stocking up on Epsom salts, essential oils, and anything else you may need to give yourself a manicure or pedicure at home.  Taking time to take care of yourself is important.  This is another part of the physical aspect of self-care.

Keep a Gratitude journal – 15 Days of Self-Care

A simple gratitude journal

Staying grateful is key in wiring your brain for positivity.  If a gratitude journal is going to end up as just another thing on your never-ending to-do list, try keeping a more simple journal page (like the free one below) to keep around to fill out only when you are feeling the pinch of stress and fatigue.  Think bullet journal style.

Ask For Help – 15 Days of Easy Self-Care

For goodness sake, ask for help already!

Too often we’re afraid to ask for help and don’t see that as plain and simple self-care.  We’re afraid someone will say no for various reasons.  “Will they think I’m just being lazy?  Of course they will.  Ugh…  I’ll just find a way to do it.”

Everyone else is just as busy as you too, right?  Maybe that’s your immediate reason why you just can’t ask for help.

Guilty of thinking everyone will do everything “wrong” anyway maybe?  You don’t have your husband or kids helping because they “will only cause you more work” fixing what they cleaned?

Wrong, wrong, and wrong.  None of this helps you self-care well, and for how long can you run this train on your own without it?

Staying Hydrated: Easy Self-Care for Special Needs Moms

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water

Staying hydrated is tough for some people!  If you struggle with it, try adding fruit or stevia based flavor additives.  I’d steer clear of a ton of sugar and any artificial sweeteners.  I love water (although I didn’t always), but when my love affair wanes a bit and I need a change I add Stur to my water.  It’s just enough flavor to change things up, but not enough fruit to get my fruit allergies going.
